About
Who I am
I'm Victor. I write Ruby on Rails, front and back.
It started the way it does for a lot of people my age: pulling apart websites to see what made them work. Epitech in Nantes came after, then a year in Seoul. I did C and C++ first, then a stretch of front-end in Angular and React. Rails arrived in 2024 and I stopped looking around.
The things I've built tend to have real users behind them. A dashboard city agents use to run waste collection. An internal analytics tool. A nutrition app that's mine, that I keep running.
French is my first language. I work in English, and I studied Chinese at university.
How I work
Eight months fully remote at Publidata shaped the way I work now. They handed me a scope and left me to organize it, and it turned out to suit me better than I expected.
It's also where I got serious about AI. I've built a setup around it that covers planning and review as much as writing code, and I tear it up every few months because the tools keep moving. It's part of how I work now, not a gadget I bring out for show.
I like small teams and agile that stays light. I want to be in on a feature while it's still an idea, not handed a ticket with every decision already made. And I try to leave code the next person can read without coming to ask me about it.
What I'm looking for
I'm looking for a Rails job. Full stack, and I mean that literally: I'm as at home on the front as on the back.
Remote, ideally. I've done it and it suits me, so it's the last thing I'd give up. Where the company sits matters less: France, elsewhere in Europe, further out. I'd move for the right one.
Past that I don't have a long list. Something people actually use, a team small enough that I know what everyone is doing, a codebase old enough to have some history in it.
